Lee Roy Selmon blends the benefits of a football scholarship within his family with the benefits of community service. He is the youngest child from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Semon. They raised him on the family farm near Eufala. A second reason was he is the youngest of three brothers to play with Oklahoma. All three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in nation by the Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. Over the course of three seasons, Roy was on the field, Oklahoma won two National Championships. As a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third season in 1975. Selmon earned a degree from the university of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week throughout his college years. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. He also began a career in business. In 1988, he was an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the ten outstanding young people throughout the United States. When he was a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and was weighing 256 pounds. He was captain of his college team in the year 1975. In 1993, he became the as associate director at the University of South Florida. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded the Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
